2L FI Cyl Head     Rebuild

we will be doing a rebuild on Scott Wilson's 2L cylinder head. Valve grind and adjustment, surface and pressure test, seal replacement and helicoil install. Depending on the camshaft condition, a performance upgrade is a possibility. The head was leaking oil and coolant into a couple of cylinders. This is the before pic-an oily mess!

these are the worn exhaust valves. The face of each where it contacts the seat is worn. Click on the photo for an enlarged view, and look for the dark spots on the valve face.

Here is the completed head. It got 4 new exhaust valves, 3 angle valve grind, surfacing, new seals and gaskets. Valves were adjusted, distributor received a new advance unit and was resealed. The head was shipped ready to install.

The replacement will be a 2L with an 1.8L cylinder head to boost the compression. It will feature mild perf cams. Flywheel has been lightened and the rotating assy has been balanced.

cylinder head and most accessories installed. This car still has to meet Calif emissions standards, so all emission equipment will remain functional even though we will be installing headers and complete performance exhaust with a catalytic converter.

The job is nearly complete!

the engine is complete and running. Installation of all of the emission equipment will be completed in the near future.

This system got the muffler with twin 3 1/2" tips. Incredible sound!

All emission equipment installed and working! Emissions are extremely low, yet the engine is making good power and torque.
